Trigger Point Injections

Trigger points are areas of tenderness that cause referred pain and decreased range of motion. By injecting the trigger point in the muscle with homeopathic solutions, the knot dissipates to decrease pain sensation and increase range of motion. Usually multiple injections are needed for lasting relief. Amount of injections needed depends on duration of pain and how severe the pain is.

Prolozone Therapy

Prolozone therapy is a homeopathic/ozone injection technique for treating all forms of musculoskeletal and joint pain including chronic neck and back pain, rotator cuff injuries, and knees, degenerated discs, and shoulder and elbow pain. The treatment uses ozone to cause the proliferation, regeneration and rebuilding of new ligament and cartilage tissue in an area where they have become weak.

What is Prolozone?

Prolozone is derived from the Latin word "proli" which means to regenerate or rebuild and the word ozone. Ozone is the most highly active form of oxygen in the universe. Prolozone uses the power of oxygen to cause damaged tissues, joints, ligaments, and tendons to regenerate.

How Does Prolozone Work?

This therapy involves the injection of ozone in and around ligaments where they attach to the bone. The injected ozone increases blood supply and flow of healing nutrients. It also stimulates deposition and activity of cells called fibroblasts and chondroblasts. Ozone is a naturally-occurring, highly reactive molecule consisting of three atoms of oxygen. Because ozone is highly reactive, it is able to stimulate the fibroblastic and chondroblastic cellular activity, thus enhancing the repair cycle by increasing available oxygen and nutrients to the new forming tissue. It provides vitamins, minerals and oxygen.Low levels of oxygen cause an accumulation of lactic acid, which is what causes pain. Prolozone works in three ways. First, homeopathic anti-inflammatory medications are injected into the injured area to reduce inflammation and swelling. This leads to increased circulation. Next, the area is treated with vitamins and minerals that are critical for healing. And finally, the area is infiltrated with oxygen in the form of ozone. The result is that the tissues get what they need to heal. And as they heal, the circulation to the area is re-established, and the treatment is complete. The response to treatment varies from person to person, but most people only need from 3-5 treatments.

Is Prolozone the Same as Prolotherapy?

No. Prolozone uses oxygen to create a healing. Prolotherapy uses inflammation to create the healing. Prolotherapy is extremely painful. Pain usually persists for days to weeks after a treatment. Patients receiving Prolozone feel immediate improvement, with very little to any pain at all during the treatments. Next, prolotherapy requires many injections, whereas Prolozone only requires a few. Prolozone works on just about any pain problem you might have, including:

  • Back and neck pain – with or without degenerative disc disease

  • Shoulder pain from rotator cuff injuries

  • Osteoarthritis – hips, knees and spine

  • Arthritic joints

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Sports injuries

  • Carpal Tunnel

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Sprains and strains
